Larry Strain is a founding Principal of Siegel & Strain Architects in Emeryville, CA, with a 40-year background in sustainable design. He authored the guideline specifications for sustainable materials which were incorporated into BuildingGreen’s GreenSpec Directory. Mr. Strain served on the board of the Northern Cali­fornia Chapter of the U S. Green Building Council, and currently serves on the board of the Ecological Building Network, and the Carbon Leadership Forum. He leads materials research and specifications for the firm and for the last 7 years has focused on reducing project carbon emissions, with an emphasis on embodied emissions from materials.
